Successful athletes are known for their weekly planning, aren’t they? As are successful business people, yes? What about you? Or is your planning perhaps more weakly?
If I’ve learned one key thing from all my decades of business leadership and coaching business leaders, it’s that you’ll find goal setting and planning to be fundamentally underpinning almost every success. Whether in sport or in business, or other aspects of life also. Bar one thing. That the planning is followed up by targeted action towards those goals. Relentlessly. Measured and monitored weekly. And the insights fed straight back into whatever the endeavour or program is.
Evidence of long term planning is hard to find these days. Quarterly results focus rules. So yes, quarterly planning prevails. Budgets are also usually monthly. But those are all to “granular”.
My experience is that it all happens in the weekly focus.
So that’s what I’d like to focus on in this blog.
